Continue making selections and painting. Below is what mine looked like after the stems and leaves were done.
These may seem a little light at first but you can adjust the opacity of the color if you like or do a gamma correction to highten all the colors when you are finished without bluring out the subtle lines..
Below is a close up of how I blended the stem and leaf together with the smuge tool.

When you have painted the entire image select the the painted area as below and copy merged. Paste as new image.
Now you can play with it. Smudge, highlight, add filters or whatever. Be sure to save first and work on a duplicate image.
